“Animals open up a depth in me that is both attractive and familiar. I know this depth, in a sense, as it is mine. It is what was taken from me so long ago. I don’t know what, of the soft, secret and painful in these dark animals prolongs the intimacy of a glow that watches over us.”
George Bataille. The theory of religion.
Marion Lefebvre was born in Toulouse, France, in 1972. Lives and work between France and England. Studied at L’Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts and at l’ETPA in Toulouse and at Kent Institute of Art & Design in Maidstone, UK.
Her personal work explores man’s inner world, in particular the figure of the ‘Other’. The notions of passage and wilderness are essential to her work. Each new search involves the quest for a passage towards wilderness, seen as our “blind spot”.
