Confinement. Will you still be there?
The lockdown period helped me explore creatively the feeling of confinement. The peacock feathers took me back to my last Indian trip shortly before the spread of Covid19, wondering when I would be able to travel again safely.
I created an arrangement of peacock and ostrich feathers to photograph, and wanted their colours to contrast with the black and white outdoor scenery, emphasizing the sense of confinement. Restriction is a topic that I have explored in the past, and by doing so it helps to regain my sense of freedom. I took a series of photographs with these feathers, and another one in black and white called ‘Will you still be there?’ expresses the desire to fly again.
